Do you ever read scripture and you have to re read it like 10 times because you’re like what the heck did I just read?! Yeah.. I’ve had that happen multiple times. “Hi, while I was in GA, during devo time, we were told to pick a random page in the Bible without looking at what it said, find verse and study it. I landed upon Amos 8:12 and I read over it so many times and I understand what the words are saying, but could you please explain why they are searching for the word of the Lord, but are unable to find it? We’re taught that if you seek out the word, you will find a relationship with the Lord so I’m a bit confused if I’m honest. “They shall wander from sea to sea, and from north to east; they shall run to and fro, to seek the word of the Lord, but they shall not find it.”” That was a text I sent to my youth pastor on June 23, 2021 just a few days after I had met some of the sweetest souls down at WRGY boot camp. I know, context is everything in the Bible, understanding the development of the disciples and the progressiveness that surrounded their hesitation behind following Christ openly, but no matter how much reading or searching I did, that singular verse didn’t make sense and quite honestly, I’m still confused. See there’s so many people that understand so much more scripture than I do and that’s okay, it’s not about understanding everything, it’s about seeking more of God and reaching to learn and grow within your faith and in your relationship with Christ. Seeking more of God is SO GOOD! It’s amazing to rejoice in your faith, but even more amazing to grow in it and openly admit that you are forever learning and changing, altering how you perceive the words, how you live your life and that’s something i remind myself of every day. Seeking God and asking questions is so cool and I couldn’t be more proud of my past self when i realize how many times I raised my hand in church or would text a friend and ask what the heck Pastor Amanda was talking about in youth group because I was so confused. So here’s to you past me;) Thank you for learning and growing and finally finding where you’re meant to be. Serve in His kingdom with all of your heart!
